Innovations in Driver Interfaces
The Volkswagen Design Center approached IxDS to get a grip on the proliferation of driver assistance systems. We developed a series of innovative concepts and prototypes together with an encompassing brand strategy.
Once more we applied our design-driven innovation process to dive deeply into the context. In a phase of intense research we involved user groups, experts, and the client in experience-oriented exercises. It resulted in an impression of driving that conflicts with recent trends in assistive car technology: Automation and high-end technology tends to deprive drivers of their control – and therefore also of their enjoyment.
Making responsibility enjoyable
Through the exploration of hands-on prototypes we achieved to bring the human experience back into the equation. Situated multi-modal information, an enrichment of senses, and the interplay of driver and passengers were leveraged to achieve a joyful, secure and less stressful driving experience.
