Interaction always happens in a rich context

Interaction Design

Turning technology into experience

Interaction design is one of the core disciplines in the application of technology. It makes technology meaningful and useful to people, and also drives development by anticipating human needs.

Part of our core approach to interaction design at IxDS is to critically evaluate the effectiveness of any given technical solution – especially the screen. The introduction of devices like the iPhone and Wii led to a new appreciation of our bodily capabilities and have encouraged more companies to employ innovative physical interfaces in their products.

In the academic world, research on “Tangible and Embodied Interaction” has been established as a promising new discipline. The members of IxDS are deeply involved in research in this area and Reto Wettach, the head of this studio, is also professor for Physical Interaction Design at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam. Together with his students and team of researchers, Reto is constantly exploring new, more human ways of interacting with computers.
